Its population is around 218,000 and growing, making it the tenth most populous city in the state of Texas. Garland manages to have a comfortable, hometown feel even with its proximity to a major metropolitan area. Garland, TX is primarily a residential suburb, which means most residents commute to Dallas for work - a trip that is made easy even for non vehicle owners by Garland's connection to Dallas' DART light rail system.
